I've had a terrible, I've had a horrible

I've had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.

Let's see shall we?

I have a bad cold and likely a fever. My glasses decided to snap completely in half when I woke up. It's Sunday so there are NO buses to Rosslyn. I couldn't get the LJ Phonepost to work earlier. And oh yeah, it's the fucking Super Bowl and the Eagles are in it.

Yeah, today SUCKS MAJOR AMOUNTS OF ASS.

Sick as a dog I had to walk over a mile across Key Bridge to the subway station, take the subway out to Ballston Mall where there was a long line of people waiting for glasses. Bad news yet again, LensCrafters no longer carries MODO frames and my practically brand new lenses are an odd size so they can't put them into a different frame.

So I'm stuck getting 100% entirely new glasses. The lenses are smaller top to bottom but are slightly wider than before. The only good thing that came out of it was that since my lenses were less than 6 months old and because the lady at LensCrafters took pity on me (cause I don't know how I even got there not being able to see a fucking thing) she gave me BOTH the frames AND the lenses for 50% off. That meant that with the total price, I basically paid for the frames and got the lenses completely FREE. And my lenses are not cheap between getting Featherwates and having an increasingly bad prescription.

I bought some cold medicine and a new thermometer while I was waiting and now Joe and I are trying to figure out our dinner situation because I'm not up to walking down to Dominos to get our free carryout pizzas. I'm spending the Super Bowl sick, in bed, and watching it with a fucking Eagles fan. Could this day get any worse?

Only if the Eagles win I guess.

Here's hoping that Mom, Dad, Oogie, [info]meadowsoprano and all others in the Philly area tonight stay safe cause Philly is gonna burn either way.

How fucking lame can you get?

I mean, my roommate is cool and all. But her computer's wallpaper? Not so much. Her and her intellectual poseur boyfriend. As if his constantly showing up at my room wasn't bad enough. Now he's staring at my from her computer too? -_-

But it looks like she's going away for a few days so that's not bad at all. WOOT.

So my mom listens to a talk radio station from New Jersey in her car on the way to and from work each day and she's a fan of their afternoon show hosted by "The Jersey Guys". And a few weeks ago, the wife of the acting governor of New Jersey came out and said that she suffered from such severe postpartum depression that she thought about drowning one of her kids and microwaving the other. So yesterday the Jersey guys made a reference to that on their show.

Little did they know that as the show ended, the governor of New Jersey with several armed state troopers confronted one of the hosts out front of the studio and basically threatened to kill him and sue him for defamation. The radio station and the guys themselves continue to hold true to First Amendment rights and that they were only saying what his wife had said and plan to countersue the governor. And apparently this kind of behavior can get him kicked out of office which would make his successor like the fifth governor in like 8 years in NJ.

[info]meadowsoprano, what is your state coming to?

I have a large, accidentially self-inflicted scratch on my face and my cover up isn't covering up. Therefore, I look like a freak today. I wish I could hide until it heals. That and I'm freaking tired.

Totally Obsessed

So, has anyone watched this show on VH1? This show has shaken my faith in humanity even more. In just two episodes they have shown a couple that raises a Cabbage Patch Doll as a kid, a woman who raises 2 ducks as kids, a man transforming himself into a cat and these two special cases:

1. A guy so obsessed with "Miami Vice" that he invited Philip Michael Thomas to his wedding...and he came! TUBBS WENT TO HIS WEDDING! Freaking awesome, but disturbing nonetheless.

2. A woman who lives her life as a Ninja Turtle. She lives on pizza. Took loans out to buy TMNT costumes from their movies. And she sung a song from the TMNT stage show (from 1990) that she says changed her life.

I'm seriously disturbed now. Props to Fred Willard though.

McGreevey

I know I haven't said much on the issue but now it's getting ridiculous. Look, most Republicans couldn't give a flying rat's ass that he's gay. What they're pissed about is not getting the opportunity at a special election until November 2005. Even if he wasn't gay, McGreevey was on the verge of being force to resign for political reasons. Many of his cohorts have resigned on corruption charges and I'm certain that Jimmy wasn't that far behind. By handing the reins over to the head of the state Senate, a democrat and friend of Jim's, you only continue the mismanagement of the state of New Jersey for another year. McGreevey has spent more time making commercials than governing and the people of New Jersey are glad to see him go for that reason and that reason only. Really, no one cares that he was gay.

Also, the NJ talk radio station (101.5, a favorite of my mom's) went so far as to quote a source of theirs yesterday that Golan (McGreevey's supposed lover) was an Israeli spy planted in the United States to get info out of Jim to pass back home. I'm sorry but this is a storyline ripped right out of a West Wing episode (where the vice prez beds a socialite, tells her secrets, she spills them in a book and he's forced to resign). A guy even called them up and said exactly that. It's getting out of hand and unfortunately the media shows no signs of giving up.

NBC 10 has gone so far as to plant a guy in front of Golan's parents' apartment building in a Tel Aviv suburb. Geez guys.

In other news: woke up with a cold = NOT HAPPY.

So frustrating...

Countdown time

  • Jun. 27th, 2004 at 10:13 PM
yankees - apgame6
6 days until the Outer Banks
36 days until Florida
44 days until Crosby Stills and Nash
49 days until Huey Lewis and the News
63 days until I go back to Georgetown

That's all this summer is to me. A series of numbers. All of which count down to events where I can be anywhere other than home or work. Out of all of those I guess I'm looking most forward to the 36. I would not have seen John for over two months by that point, and I also feel proud of the fact that it's a vacation that I've planned and paid for entirely by myself. It's only the second time I've ever done it and it feels good.

My sleep cycle has been really fucked up as of late. Last night, I fell asleep around 12:30, woke up at 3, fell in and out of sleep between then and about 5 while watching a movie ("Career Opportunities" <3333 that movie) and then slept from 5 to 9. It's also the first night in a few weeks I've been able to stay up late. Stupid work schedule is messing with my nightowlness. I'm even feeling a little sleepy just sitting here. Only 63 days until I'm back on the right schedule. Up by 10, in bed by 1. That's the way life should go.

Working 8-4:30 M-W, 7-5:30 Thursday and then I'm out of here...and not a moment too soon.

Why oh why...

Did the last song on "Friends" have to be my FAVORITE INSTRUMENTAL EVER?

It was "Embryonic Journey" by Jefferson Airplane. First song Jorma Kaukonen ever wrote.

Sooooo grooood.

You know what I really hate? What really irks me? What bugs me down to the bone? The fact that someone can have FOUR phone numbers and you can't get a hold of them on any of them. And it's always when you need to talk to them most.

That and when people say they're going to call you at a certain time and never ever do. I don't know which one is worse.

Otherwise, it's been a good day. Cinco de Mayo in cow country Virginia...good stuff. That and CHRISTINE'S NEW SINGLE IS NOW ON BBC RADIO!!!!!

That is all.

Long week. Very long week.

2 papers, a shitload of reading, many movies to watch for classes (not for fun). At least when today is over, I have no major due dates until the last day of classes (May 4th). I have a group project due the day after Easter break ends but I only have to do 1/5 of that and there isn't much to it.

I need a project for this summer. Any ideas people? Something creative. Artistic, writing, I don't know.

Why the fuck am I getting a free subscription to YM? I've gotten 3 issues in the past week and a half. I *HATE* the magazine and I hate even more that I'm now recieving issues constantly.

Weekend plans are largely up in the air. One of the bf's friends is coming to DC for part of his Spring Break. He's the really weird one though. So we'll have to see.

My current project with the bf: a series of early 90's mix cd's of various genres. One pop, one rap, one soul/R&B, one Seattle. I'm in charge of the Seattle one. I've only made a band list so far, no specific songs yet. I have: Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Screaming Trees, Soundgarden, Hole and Temple of the Dog. Any major ones I'm forgetting? I went through the SubPop artist lineup and took what I could from there. There's other bands I know but they don't even have one song worthy of inclusion.

Starting to recede back into my TWW obsession. Problem is, I need the rest of the 4th season/up to now in the 5th season. Anyone have the files cause I'm having trouble finding them. And after watching one of my all-time favorite TWW scenes in "20 Hours In America - Part One" (where Sam is sleeping and Josh calls and screams into his answering machine causing Sam to fly out of bed) I really fucking miss Sam. Sam Seaborn is perfection and now he's in tv drama purgatory. And his replacement has been nowhere to be seen lately. Where for art thou Will Bailey?

Enough blathering on about random subjects. Off to do the 70 pages of Japanese history reading that I need to by 4:15. Joy.

People are scary.

Today really sucks. I'm depressed as hell and I can't figure out a reason as to why?

Also, do I have a right to get upset if my significant other mentions his ex a lot?

Not really but yeah. The bf is in Florida for the weekend so I had to figure out what to do with myself. Felt like shit most of the day but then picked up during the afternoon. I convinced Joe to go to Chipotle with me and then we convinced Nate and Steve to come along. We and Steve's newly purchased wine went back to Henle 66 afterwards.

We watched "Mystic River"...good movie but really freaking long. During the intermission, Nate got up to go to the bathroom and Steve took advantage of the chance to check out one of the other "movies" on Nate's computer. While we were deciding which movie to watch on Nate's list, we saw one called like "BBW - Plump and Pimpin" or something like that. We made Nate admit he had fat chick porn on his computer. When he went to the bathroom, Steve put the porn on. Joe was turning red, laughing softly. Steve and I were completely losing it. It was freaking hilarious. It was this like 300 pound chick doing it with this hairy old guy. It was soooooooooooo funny. Nate came back in and was totally embarassed. We turned it back on after the movie too. Porn is NOT sexy. It's just plain pathetically funny.
I wanted to stay around to see if Matt's drunken admirer was going to come around again but I got tired. Off to watch more movies and go to bed. Going to the GTown/Nova women's game in the AM. Later kids.
