It's a go...
Hand surgery 1 of 2 - April 9th.
2 of 2 - sometime later this year.
Still, having one good hand and one bad is better than having one bad and one worse. I can feel the left one getting worse as I have to rely more and more on it. My right one (the worse one) actually hasn't felt that bad lately but that's probably a result of wearing the brace 90% of the day (even while sleeping) and popping Aleve like they're candy. The best part is that there is no pre-testing required - not for insurance or hospitalization reasons. So score there. All I have to do is call Dr. Smith's office to get some instructions and I'm set. I'm also gonna schedule all the other appointments I need (eyes, OB/GYN, etc.) for later that week so one of my parents can take me (since I won't be able to drive - I have to keep my arm completely immobilized).
Getting to go to Puerto Rico (well, if I ever get the credit card info from my pop pop) will definitely be my reward for getting through it. My boss couldn't be more awesome though - she's like "take whatever time you need, you've earned it". I love her. She called Bryan and I her right and left arm in the department and without us she'd be screwed. As much as I may complain sometimes I really love Bean and she's really a large part of it.
Not too much else happening on the homefront. Just counting the days until the 100th Anniversary of Georgetown Basketball gala and WESTMINSTER. 12 and 14 respectively if you were wondering.
One last thing - Barbaro was put to sleep today. At least his suffering is over. I just fear the outpouring of FANFIC that may come out of this. Yeah, that's right, FANFIC. And not just fanfic, but R/X rated fanfic. Beastiality people. It's been posted on a number of Philly news blogs. It's just sooooo wrong.

Pennsylvania is now more hickish than ever before. Besides the numerous confederate flags I saw on my way to work this morning, I went on the state website to renew my license and found these: http://www.dot4.state.pa.us/license_pla tes/victory_junction.shtml
You can now get a PA license plate for your favorite NASCAR driver.
I weep for society. At least they're better than the stupid looking owl.
Here until 3:30. 8:30-5 tomorrow. 7-2:30 Friday and then Musikfest WOOT. I'm seriously craving funnel cake like whoa.
Any links so I can waste some time this afternoon?

The next person who calls me to cancel their appointment tomorrow or refuses to make one for tomorrow is going to die. Seriously people, it's DRIZZILING outside and the weather map has the snow line in the fucking POCONOS. It's not going to be below 35 degrees here at anytime. We are not getting anything more than sleet and even that is questionable. I have to go to Acme later and if there's a crowd there rushing to buy milk and bread, you can bet I'm busting a few heads while I'm there. I can't believe this place is turning into DC when it comes to winter weather. The threat of an inch ::gasp:: of snow and they close school. I even had one woman who lives no more than 3 blocks walking distance from the hospital refuse a mammogram appointment tomorrow. She would have to leave her house for no more than 45-60 minutes and refuses to fearing "the bad stormy weather". Ugh, this is reason #23049583 why I hate people.

We had a simultaneous code blue/trauma code about 35 minutes ago. There were simultaneous accidents at 10th and Park and 10th and Juniper (aka two of the four intersections surrounding the hospital). Things are crazy. My dad is likely swamped. At 10th and Juniper there's at least one casualty, at 10th and Park there were two cars involved and one of them was likely responding to the first accident. They've got all the streets closed off around here with the exception of 11th so I had to do a little maneuvering to get back here from Wawa...instead of just taking Park all the way back I had to take Park to Main to Juniper to 11th. And the helicopters remain overhead.

The Appalachian Emergency Room one. Some redneck just walked up to me with his t-zone (the spot between his eyebrows) bandaged together and says "I think I need to get some stitches."
Aaah the joys of working in a hospital on the border between civilization and Alabama.
New Years was good, quiet as always. Nice little family dinner. I burned all of my gift cards yesterday and got seasons 1 and 3 of West Wing on DVD so now I'm all up to date and basking in the mucho Josh and Sam love. Have I mentioned how much I love the second season? I'll have to write a detailed essay on that some time.
Oh well, back to work for now.

I got Craig Manning for Christmas!
Well not actually really...cause he's not in Season 1 but regardless, I now have Season 1 of Degrassi on DVD! The bf got me that and two of those cheesy "as seen on tv" 90's compilations that we've been joking about forever. His parents got me a Tommy Bahama makeup bag and a gift certficate good at any Tommy Bahama store. As a result, I owe them big time. So I got them a Dean and Deluca coffee sampler and then I have to send out John's DVD's tomorrow. The gift certificate will definitely be nice when I go to Arizona cause they have two HUGE Tommy stores out there and between that and the Burberry outlet that
kitsune714 told me about in Vacaville, I should be coming home from Spring Break with some nice stuff.
Luckily this is my last day of work until Monday and I get to spend all next week here in the business office. Deb is always fun to work with and I don't have to be here until 8:30 which is a major plus. Remind me to write about the major scheduling coup I pulled because this one woman refuses to stop harassing me about covering her shifts.
Errands galore tomorrow: cleaners, post office, bakery, library, my mom's school, etc. NJ on Friday and then Christmas as always in little old D-Town. WOOT.
Only 45 minutes left...or $7.50 if I think about it in those terms. That's a Chipotle dinner right there kids.

My mantra of the morning:
"Only (fill in the time left) until lunch."
I finished my paperwork really quickly and now I have nothing to do except read old TWoP West Wing recaps. I mean it's entertaining, but I have to burn all but an hour (yay for Wawa lunches) until I go home at 3:30.
I really could use another nap. I slept for 2 hours yesterday afternoon and about 5.5 hours last night until I was awoken by what I swear was a mouse in the crawlspace next to my room in my dad's house. The little scurrying noises on the wooden floor weren't nothing. Rather than check to see what the cause of the noise was (because I'm a chicken and the first time I saw a mouse in my old garage, I jumped about 5 feet up in the air. So I've been up since about 5:30 or so and I'm none too happy about it.
At least there's TAR tonight cause all my other reality shows have wound down (Apprentice) or in the process of doing so (RW/RR Challenge). I hope Victoria shoots Jonathan with that cannon. That would make my night let alone my week.
I still can't believe that Christmas is only four days away. And that the annual New Jersey trek is only three days away. It's a shortened trek this year at least because dinner is going to be at my Grandpa's house this year. See on Christmas Eve, we go to my Grandpa's house for lunch and then drive to whichever relative's house is hosting dinner...all in Bergen County, New Jersey. So yeah. Should be interesting, especially because Chuck isn't going to be home this year and I always get doted on a little more when he's not around. Although I'd trade that in to have him here. He's basically my big brother and I miss him...especially at Christmas. At least I get to go visit him in Phoenix in March.
Okay, back to my recaps. I'm already up to "20 Hours In LA". WOOT.

It was 5 degrees when I went out to scrape the ice off my car this morning. That is not cool. It was 50 something in Washington when I left. Booooooourns. On top of that, I woke up at 2:15AM and haven't slept since. Yeah. And now I'm stuck at work.
But there are good things coming out of this...namely, I GOT HOUSING FOR NEXT YEAR! Well, I got eligibility and then I get to pick where I'll live next Thursday afternoon. I've narrowed down my choices to either living in a Copley suite or living where I am now in McCarthy. I could still get the theme floor but I really don't want to live out in LXR. So I'm definitely relieved about that.
The weekend was good, quiet...I slept a lot but I needed too.
Dad's buying lunch today (YAY!) but he doesn't like Wawa hoagies (NAY!). I'm off to read TWoP recaps. And call the Quakertown police cause apparently our vending machines were broken into. WOOT.

Today is a good day thus far. The girls at the front desk at work got me a cake and a gift card to Wal*Mart. Of course there aren't any Wal*Marts near school so I may just stop over there after work.
I just saw someone perfect for Blue Collar TV. Mullet, wrap around shades, muscle shirt, ripped jeans and what looked like either British Knights or LA Gears. He was so "Achy Breaky Heart" it hurts. He probably goes to Montana West every Friday night to ride the mechanical bull.
Georgetown has finally jumped onto the technology bandwagon. This year the registrar is asking students for their cell phone numbers as "technology is escaping phone land lines on the hill". It's about damn time.
Trying to organize a Chevy's night for September 5th (Sunday) so any and all GTown/DC kids are invited. Off to lunch soon I hope and then the business office for the rest of the afternoon.

I'm back from North Carolina. Good trip. Long, busy week. Sorry I didn't get in touch with you Meredith - too many places to be at once. Now I'm back and at work, but luckily the time has flown by. All this despite everyone being zombie-like today because of the gloomy weather. Only 1.5 weeks until I go to Hersheypark and 3 weeks until I go to Florida though thank goodness.
Easy week schedule wise and I got out of someone trying to get me to work a 10.5 hour shift Thursday. Pshaw and monkeys might fly out of my butt (random early 90's reference - I LOVE THE 90's TONIGHT!!!!!).
Also, if you <3 Chipotle like I do, sign this petition (http://www.petitiononline.com/chipo tle/petition.html).

Hey kids, it's been awhile. Haven't been up to much personally. I've been working my ass off and that's about it. But it did allow me to get my plane ticket to Florida yesterday for August. WOOT. I'm leaving for North Carolina in 8 days so that is also good.
Work has been quite nice today. The phones have been quiet. Debbie and I are the only ones here so we ordered out for grinders from Rossi's and I stopped and got us some Dairy Queen too. Now we're just searching around trying to find her a good deal on a computer for her daughter who is going to Millersville in the fall.
Spending most of the weekend home alone. My uncles invited my mom to spend the weekend in NYC with them and I forced her to get away from me and the dog and enjoy herself. She's wanted to go to the Gay Pride Parade there for years (she's not a lesbian, but my uncles have been partners for almost 30 years). I gave her 20 bucks for a few drinks and my camera (on the promise that if she sees a Queer Eye or Graham Norton, I WANT PICTURES). So I get to take care of the dog and bum around so if any of you want to do something tomorrow night CALL ME!!!!! I'll be free most of Sunday too.

Today is just one of those days where you wish you were somewhere else. The phone has been ringing off the hook since 8AM (even though people aren't supposed to call for appointments until 9) and every single one of them needs something complicated scheduled: CT scans, stress tests, pre-admission tests, etc. (aka things I haven't learned how to do yet). So, with only one person here able to schedule these things you have to put a lot of people on hold or take a lot of messages and it gets quite complicated.
On top of that, I'm covering for someone today whose job I barely know. I watched her for maybe an hour one day last week and that's it. I have no clue what I'm doing so I'm basically not doing much of anything. I left the girl a note saying - "I don't want to screw up - so I'm not doing it. Don't be mad. Teach me what to do next week" or something along those lines. Hopefully it'll all be cool...I don't think Jody will be mad at me.
I realize that this journal has mainly become a place for my bitching lately and I apologize for that. I hope to rectify this in the future. I have off tomorrow (yay!) and have to send Patrick out on the Puppy Bus to get groomed. (Yes, there is actually a "bus" - van - that picks dogs up at their homes and takes them to the groomers. For some reason I think this is so cute.)
Interesting debate going on in my fantasy baseball league over which city (Buffalo, Cleveland or Philadelphia) is the most tortured when it comes to sports. Obviously with 2 people in the league from Philly and 2 people from Cleveland, we're all biased. Of course my vote went to the City of Brotherly (or as we joke, Battery) Love. I think two words pretty much sum up emotions around here right now: Smarty Jones. It's a fun debate nonetheless...despite the two votes for West Palm Beach, FL from 2 other members. Tsk tsk.
Random comment: this is the first place in this hospital in which I've gotten to sit right next to the window...I like it.
Only 18 days until OBX...and only 47 (approx.) until Florida...I can't wait.

Well, I'm gonna be around a lot more for sure now cause I have been given 14 days worth of work for the month of June. It's gonna suck majorly but at least I get paid for all of it (cause I desperately need the cash). So I won't be a stranger anymore.
Other than that, I really haven't done much. I've made a lot of library visits and am on my second of 8 or 9 books that I have out. I just finished a bio of George H.W. Bush and now I'm reading Dave Barry's Travel Guide for fun.
I'm stuck here until 5 to train for my new job in Central Scheduling/Finance Office. One of the women in there is pregnant and I'm basically going to cover all her shifts when she's on maternity leave over Christmas (::fingers crossed:: that this earns me enough dough for a Spring Break trip).
All I need now though is money for school and a plane ticket to Florida in August.
In other news, WOOOOOOT for christinemcvie.com. My copy of "In The Meantime" will be just in time (excuse the bad joke) for vacation. Nice.
