Do any of you have Pete Townshend - Let My Love Open The Door (e.cola mix)? I've posted on two music sharing comms looking for it and haven't gotten a response yet. I was trying to rip it to iTunes last night and it was the ONLY track on his greatest hits cd that wouldn't rip for some reason. I love it dearly and desperately want it back so if any of you have it I would be *SO* grateful.

I just heard the latest version of "Do They Know It's Christmas" and I want to kill myself...or someone else.
Madonna's intro set the cringe factor on maximum and it didn't get better from there.
I really love some of the people on here but NO kids, NO. I'm sorry, but the original had Bob Geldof, Duran Duran AND all three members of Bananarama and you know those ladies really make a Christmas anthem what it is.
This new version is total shit and it needs to be said.

At My Most Beautiful
I've found a way to make you
I've found a way
A way to make you smile
I read bad poetry into your machine
I save your messages just to hear your voice
You always listen carefully to awkward rhymes
You always say your name
Like I wouldn't know it's you
At your most beautiful
I've found a way to make you
I've found a way
A way to make you smile
At my most beautiful
I count your eyelashes secretly
With every one whisper I love you
I let you sleep
I know you're closed eye watching me
Listening
I thought I saw a smile
I've found a way to make you
I've found a way
A way to make you smile
Le sigh.

I managed to get myself housing after all next year. My application was approved for the American Politics and Culture floor. Now I don't have to sweat out the waitlist and I'll hopefully get a decent room in LXR.

CREAM IS REUNITING!!!!! I *SOOOOO* wish I could see this in person. If only Blind Faith would follow suit. Who knew Ginger Baker was still alive? Heh.
Apparently Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton did some work for The Simple Life 3 in Lehigh Valley Intl. Airport. Stay off MY turf bitches.
And Raj on The Apprentice 2 made out with Stacy and Jen C. and also went out with Robin the secretary (the one who sits in front of the board room). What a player. I still <3 him though...my young Tucker Carlson wannabe.

I have wanted to see Huey Lewis for YEARS. He played Musikfest a few years ago but I couldn't make it, but tonight I did and boy am I glad. The band was rocking...literally, album quality sound. The guitarist was awesome. The brass section was great too. And Huey hasn't lost a thing. He still sounds great. I was really pleased with the setlist...hearing "Back In Time", hearing my two favorite Huey songs back to back ("If This Is It" and "The Power of Love") and most of all, THEY PLAYED "JACOB'S LADDER"!!!!! So if he ever comes to DC? I'm sooooooooooo there.
Okay, time to go bounce off the walls some more.

Back from just over a week of running around. Went to Florida from the 2nd to the 9th and had a wonderful time as always. I've always wanted to eventually move to somewhere warm and sunny, usually leaning towards California or Arizona, but I think I've become secure in my decision to look towards Florida. It's not just because my boyfriend lives there or because I have friends there, it's because I've spent nearly a month cumulatively there and have really grown to love the area (northern Palm Beach County/southern Martin County). I know that I'm going to be in Washington for a long time but I've always wanted to have another place ot call home. OBX would be nice, as would the West Coast but Florida is just easier, faster and cheaper to get to than any of the others. It also leaves me a lot closer to DC and Pennsylvania than those other places would warrant.
Anyways...I mostly just hung out in Florida. Did a lot of shopping, went roller skating (FINALLY!) and bowling, went to the beach, went out to eat a few times and generally just had a good time. My dad wants to plan something for my Spring Break but if not, I'm definitely gonna look into going back to Florida.
Went to Musikfest Pt. 1 last night and saw Crosby Stills and Nash. Great great great show. They played a lot of old stuff that I was totally jazzed to hear (ESPECIALLY "Marrakesh Express"!!!) as well as "Southern Cross", "Woodstock", "Helplessly Hoping" and AWESOME, bluesy, sing-along versions of "Love The One You're With" and "For What It's Worth". I saw Pierre Robert (legendary Philly DJ) there rocking out during FWIW as well as a guy I swear was George Thorogood. He looked like him and had a Destroyers t-shirt and all.
In other news, I may also be getting a radio show this fall at Georgetown with my friend Joe. If we do, it's going to be exclusively music from the British Isles. If we do end up with the show, I'll fill all of you in on the info and force you all to listen. Hehehe. Also *finally* got "Debate Camp" on tape - one of my all time favorite West Wing episodes. TEAM TOBY!
Off to go install some of these damn Windows updates.

My last final is tomorrow morning at 9AM. As soon as I get out, I'm headed home. It's just all sorts of weird right now. I don't know what to study for my final. It's finally hitting me that tonight is my last "typical" night with my boys - Simpsons and dinner, etc. I'm gonna see them all for graduation next week but this the end of a very wonderful two years for me - and even though the boys for the most part will be around still next year, it's never ever going to be the same. I really hope Jon is gonna stay in DC for grad school next year cause Charlottesville is too far away.
In other news, I'm getting my CSN and Huey Lewis tickets today. Woot. I've also been listening to a lot of mid to late 80's Robert Plant stuff lately...Big Log, Heaven Knows, etc. I can't describe it in any other way than ethereal. But I like it.
It's gonna be a long, boring week at home before I get back down here. Meanwhile my room looks really freaking empty. I wanted out so badly last year after my nightmare of a roommate but I'm gonna miss my little Henle apartment. I'm definitely gonna miss my own bathroom, that's for sure. But that's the price you pay.
Have I mentioned I hate Japanese history? Yeah. Okay, time to shut up.

I just walked through the main square here at my university and there was a guy sitting on a bench playing "Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town" and doing a rather good job of it too.
I smiled and walked past, singing along and was amazed that I've retained all the words after all these years.
A truly sweet little moment.

Musikfest is a great two week long festival each August in Bethlehem, PA. They have tons of venues, get tons of artists and best of all, tickets are dirt cheap. I went to see Steve Winwood there last year and this summer I get a double shot, August 10th Crosby Stills and Nash and August 15th Huey Lewis and the News. I'm so excited. Huey was there a few years back but I couldn't get up there so now I finally get to see him. I saw CSN with Neil Young a few years ago so I'm excited about that too.
Chipotle-ing tonight and then a whole range of possibilities. Joe's sister is here, so that should be fun. Got an invite to the Jewish frat party, doubt I'll go. Lots of other events though.

Long week. Very long week.
2 papers, a shitload of reading, many movies to watch for classes (not for fun). At least when today is over, I have no major due dates until the last day of classes (May 4th). I have a group project due the day after Easter break ends but I only have to do 1/5 of that and there isn't much to it.
I need a project for this summer. Any ideas people? Something creative. Artistic, writing, I don't know.
Why the fuck am I getting a free subscription to YM? I've gotten 3 issues in the past week and a half. I *HATE* the magazine and I hate even more that I'm now recieving issues constantly.
Weekend plans are largely up in the air. One of the bf's friends is coming to DC for part of his Spring Break. He's the really weird one though. So we'll have to see.
My current project with the bf: a series of early 90's mix cd's of various genres. One pop, one rap, one soul/R&B, one Seattle. I'm in charge of the Seattle one. I've only made a band list so far, no specific songs yet. I have: Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Screaming Trees, Soundgarden, Hole and Temple of the Dog. Any major ones I'm forgetting? I went through the SubPop artist lineup and took what I could from there. There's other bands I know but they don't even have one song worthy of inclusion.
Starting to recede back into my TWW obsession. Problem is, I need the rest of the 4th season/up to now in the 5th season. Anyone have the files cause I'm having trouble finding them. And after watching one of my all-time favorite TWW scenes in "20 Hours In America - Part One" (where Sam is sleeping and Josh calls and screams into his answering machine causing Sam to fly out of bed) I really fucking miss Sam. Sam Seaborn is perfection and now he's in tv drama purgatory. And his replacement has been nowhere to be seen lately. Where for art thou Will Bailey?
Enough blathering on about random subjects. Off to do the 70 pages of Japanese history reading that I need to by 4:15. Joy.
