So I may have found a swimsuit after all...

It took a lot of driving and trying on but this may just work. After I got out of work this morning I drove to this store I found in Arlington that is a Speedo dealer. It turned out to basically be a swim team supply store. I tried on a few TYR and Speedo two pieces. The Speedo in the size that my other Speedo two piece is did not fit at all, and I am not any bigger. Turns out, according to the woman at the store, Speedo changed the cut of the two piece and made it a lot skimpier much to the anger of many Speedo customers. The TYR one was borderline on the top but they let me look at their catalog and I saw that I could order it a size up.

I even drove all the way to Potomac Mills (about 35-40 minutes away) to try a store that I was also recommended but that was a total bust. In anything other than a racing style bikini, you can only really find tops in my size with an underwire. I can't deal with that in a swimsuit. I'm active and busy in my suits, I don't just sit around. I don't want to feel like I'm wearing a bra at the beach.

So going back, I ordered the TYR bikini in my size and it should arrive in the next week or two. The print is really cute, and well, me.

::fingers crossed:: I hope it works. And that it'll be like my current Speedo two piece in that the top fits and the bottoms are a little big, but I'm willing to have that for a fitting top. I don't mind not having a string or halter top...I just don't always like wearing a one piece. I like having my stomach and back tan. If it doesn't work, the place in Arlington does have a ton of one piece Speedos on sale though.

In other news, I got a call just as I got out of work yesterday from my dad. He called to ask me what I was doing for dinner Monday. Turns out his entire schedule cleared for two days and he's coming to DC to see me. He's gonna pick me up from work Monday (I'm doing an early half day) and we're gonna hang out until he goes back on Tuesday. I'm excited. He hasn't been down here in almost a year and it'll be just like old times doing our thing around DC. Can't wait.

In the meantime, I seem to have strained my right pectoral muscle. Ever since last night it has felt like someone has been stabbing me under my boob with a really sharp knife every few minutes. Not fun. Hopefully I didn't crack a rib instead.

Weather was crappy yesterday so we scrapped Dorney and my mom, my aunt and I headed out to King of Prussia. I got two new polos for school and I got this shirt at Urban Outfitters:

Yes, I'm aware it's a guys shirt but I wanted it so bite me. It's hot.

We took my aunt to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch and then she got me a sexy iPod case:

and the Viva La Bam Seasons 2/3 DVD's for my birthday. So woot for those too.

Now I'm stuck at work until 5. I had to renew my license this morning. It took me 1.5 hours and it made me late for work. All for a stupid picture. My old picture was better. Wish I had a hairbrush with me today. Of course, as I'm already running late, I turn out of the DMV parking lot and get stuck behind some 97 year old blind woman who refuses to drive over 30 miles an hour when the limit is 55 and everyone drives 62.

So yeah. Life's boring. Georgetown on the 28th thank goodness. Why? Because my parents are basically using me as a pawn to get at each other. They both want to spend time with me but it ends up in a huge argument about how I hate driving 45 minutes to my dad's house and how I REFUSE to even see my stepmother anymore because I hate her that much and yeah. It sucks.

Peace out kids.

I bought myself a treat today.

Well, not so much a treat as DVD therapy.

According to the Los Angeles Times, 63% of families in America are now considered dysfunctional. That means that I'm in the majority. It's the people with the mom, dad, brother, sister, white picket fence, those people are the freaks!

I love this show but I thank god every day that this is not my family.

I <3 new phones.

Cingular just sent me a letter offering me a free phone upgrade as long as I extended my contract with them. I <3 my service but I was initially reluctant to upgrade. I love my phone so much (Motorola T-720) and it took me a lot to get it but after I did my research, I found that my new phone (Motorola V220) is superior in nearly every way:

- camera phone
- REAL mp3 ringtones (including LOTS of New Wave and Classic Rock <333)
- room for more polyphonic ringtones than my current phone holds
- AOL IM
- and of course, the upgrade and phone costs are completely waived = FREE.

So I decided to take it. Hopefully my phone will get here Monday so I can get it activated and go to the Cingular store on Tuesday to get my data transferred. I'm gonna miss my old phone (unlike the one I had before this one) but this new one should be good.

Cold is gradually getting better. Skipped my first class this morning to sleep in. We're doing nothing but presentations for the rest of the year so you pretty much only have to show up when it's your turn. Quite nice.

Finally ordered my new pair of Doc Martens sandals. The soles on my current pair are pretty much shot (I've had them since the middle of high school). And when I got the straps repaired last year at the Towne Cobbler, he said I'd only be able to salvage the straps if I wanted them resoled so I didn't bother. There were on sale at Nordstrom for 80 bucks. They were 70 at zappos.com but they only had the size above and below mine (UK 6). So they suxxors.

I <3 my sandals though:

Tomorrow is gonna suck majorly:
11:30-1 Class
1-4 Lunch/Work
4-6 Class
6-7:30 Dinner/Work
7:30-8:30 Group meeting for USFP memo
8:30-9:30 Hoya Blue meeting

So [info]kitsune714, I won't be available for TAR. I'm getting it taped but won't be able to get the tape until Friday so if you get the torrent before hand, that would be awesome.

Lastly, everyone go wish [info]singmad a very happy 21st birthday. C'mon already! SCOOT!

Good weekend, surreal night

Varda (http://www.guhoyas.com/sports/w-baskbl/players/playervt.html), the big Russian girl on the women's bball team here, just asked if I could sign onto the print station computers next to the laundry room for her. Needless to say, a 6'4 foreign girl asking you to do anything is kinda weird so yeah.

Let's see what happened this weekend...

Friday: Read some, turned in my first paper of the tomorrow (which I get back tomorrow -_-), got "Office Space" cheap at FYE and hit up The Tombs.

Saturday: John's parents came to buy him furniture. I went over to his place and helped him assemble his new coffee table. Went to dinner at Red Sage <3333 (I had buffalo for dinner! Heh.) John caught a cold so I put him to bed early.

Sunday: Bummed around John's for awhile. His parents came over and cooked us dinner and just gave me a ride home.

All in all, a good time and I got to escape work for awhile which was nice. I wish more weekends were as free as this one. Anyways, next weekend should be fun too though. FRIDAY = WAWA FIELD TRIP!!!!! We're taking John and Jon for their first classic hoagies and half gallons. ::sniff sniff:: It's going to be a beautiful moment.

I'm listening to all the Partyline phone posts right now and laughing my ass off. +10 for you kids. WOOT.

Shopping and a survey

My one mall excursion of Christmas 2004 is complete and all objectives were achieved. Of course, I did nearly have a heartattack thanks to dad's request. His birthday is 2 weeks after Christmas so he often asks for one expensive thing to cover both. Last year was reasonable (a 90 dollar tie)...this year, not so much.

He wanted a Burberry golf vest. Reasonable enough I thought. He told me 110, 120 bucks tops. I get to Nordstrom in Pentagon City earlier and the tag says 175...::fainting spell 1:: They only have a small and medium ::fainting spell 2:: they have to order it from another store and only one on the East Coast has an XL ::fainting spell 3:: I have to pay for it and shipping ::fainting spell 4::

Well, I put it on the credit card Dad gets the bill for and immediately called him and said there was no way I could afford this on my own. No way in hell. So I have to pay for 120 and he pays for the remainder. Fair enough. But still, that's a bit much for a college kid on a limited budget. It's hard enough doing my shopping AND my mom's this year. She's so busy working to pay the bills that she has zero time to shop or really even decorate much. I always get bummed out thinking about that because she loves Christmas SO much.

But anyways. So I got my dad's vest...I got soaps for my mom and a bathrobe for my aunt. Just a few more little things for people and I'm done. And now I have to get something for John's parents cause they got me something. They are too sweet. His mom? Cutest person ever. Every time I talk to her through email or on the phone, she's always begging me to come visit again. Hehehe.

And I FINALLY got myself a Scotland flag. About damn time.

And finally the survey everyone's doing: THREES )

That'll happen...

I bought myself my Christmas present today. Isn't that always the case. I barely buy anything for anyone else and then buy myself something.

Well, I did just get something for John (a "Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle" poster) and for my mom (a Coldwater Creek gift card). Hopefully I'll have time Thursday or Friday to hit up Pentagon City for my dad's Christmas/Birthday present (a Burberry windcheater).

But I got myself a sexy 27x40 "About A Boy" poster. Between that and my two BJD/TEOR posters, my room is gonna be rocking next semester. Woooooot.

There are no words.

I went to Wawa in College Park, Maryland today.

And it was good.

It was in a shopping center next to a Chipotle, a Dominos, a Boston Market and a Smoothie King.

I might just move to Maryland. Because THAT was the greatest shopping center ever.

I also managed to get my total to exactly 10 bucks (1 classic Italian hoagie, 2 half-gallons of lemonade and a magazine). Go me.

It may have taken an hour, and 4.70 in subway fares. But it was fucking worth it.

Soooo tired.

Dave and Busters was hella good times last night. I got a Hello Kitty tin purse. I <3 tin purses.

Today was decent as well. Tailgate was definitely overpriced if you didn't drink any beer, but oh well. The Hoyas slammed the VMI Keydets 21-0. HOYA SAXA!

Just got back from Chipotle and FYE. I found the "Leap of Faith" soundtrack for only four bucks! WOOT!!!!! You do not know how happy getting that and the "Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead" soundtrack in the same week makes me. Yay for two of my favorite movies.

I'm seriously crashing early tonight. But watching lots of tv before hand. One of my fave South Parks (the one where Cartman takes weight gain pills and Mr. Garrison wants to kill Kathie Lee) is on tonight.

I'm boring. So sue me.

WOOT.

I just put a bid in for the soundtrack for "Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead". I've been trying to get my hands on some of these songs for literally YEARS.

Hopefully I'll finally freaking win a copy of "Blue Chips" one of these days too.

I <3 Ebay. That is all.

Joined a bunch of new blogrings on Xanga, following Casey's lead:

- I Love The 80's
- one for my beloved Tucker
- one for the obvious affairs going on during the recording of Fleetwood Mac's album "Mirage"
- one for the obvious love of and between Josh and Sam on "The West Wing"

Yeah, so I'm bored. Sue me.

Went shopping again yesterday though. Got a cool new chair at Wal*Mart as well as new Birkenstock clogs and some goodies at Barnes and Noble (a Barbara Bush biography, "Spiceworld" by the Spice Girls and "Bridget Jones' Diary" on DVD -- YAY!!!!!!!!!!).

Watching the Olympics right now and then going to see Huey Lewis at Musikfest tonight. It's gonna be hot.

Will update tomorrow.

And a good weekend was had by all...

Let's see what happened:

Friday - Our skit about a family fighting over the Vietnam War went over well in Spanish class. Enjoyed Georgetown Day for about 20 minutes. Played catch on Kehoe Field. Went to Tenleytown for awhile. First to Best Buy to pick up "Love Actually", the "Problem Child" movies and the new Who compilation. Came back and had an UNO tournament for a few hours. Then the bf, Jon, Joe and myself were up until 5 AM playing Catch Phrase and random improv games. I've never pulled an all-nighter but if I ever was going to, Friday was definitely the night.

Saturday - Slept in late and had a big bowl of pasta for lunch. Played wiffle ball on Copley Lawn for awhile with the aforementioned persons as well as Jordan and Evan. Went to Tombs with the bf and Jon. Hung out, watched "About A Boy" (I'm on a MAJOR Hugh Grant kick lately) and SNL.

Today - Went to Brunch. Watched "El Silencio De Neto" for my Spanish class and then wrote up a 2 page review of it. Edited/printed my other two papers. Took advantage of the 5.99 large pizza deal from Domino's for the second Sunday in a row. Went to see the GPB showing of "Caddyshack" and just returned. I freaking love that movie. So good.

Rest of week - Two more days of classes with 3 papers to hand in. Work on IR take home final. Possibly a Cinco de Mayo party at Doctora Kebs' house. Euro IR final exam Friday. Chevy's night with the boys sometime next weekend - cause it's been a long time.
